  |   Banswara Chamber

This Royal Chamber pays homage to Rani Saheb Komal Kumari of Bissau, a princess of the erstwhile princely state of Banswara. Rani Saheb was the daughter of Maharawal Sir Prithvi Singh ji of Banswara, a branch of the prosperous Kingdom of Mewar (Udaipur). Banswara is located in the region of Vagad, around 500 kms from Jaipur in the Southern Rajasthan. It is fondly known as the "City of a Hundred Islands" for the numerous small islands located on the Mahi River. The name is derived from the Bhil chief, Bansia who was defeated by Jagmal Singh ji the first ruler of Banswara.

On February 21st, 1932 she married Major Rawal Raghubir Singh ji, the 8th Duke of Bissau in what was an elaborate affair given the prestige of both Bissau and Banswara at the time. The wedding welcomed royalties from all over India and the days were filled with 'pig sticking', elegant soirees and grand buffets. The thick forest area surrounding the Banswara is abundant with bamboo and a greyish blue stone known as Banswara Stone. As you wander around the suite, you will notice we have designed the room as an ode to this greyish blue colour.

The suite is equipped with a king size bed, a separate sitting room, a private balcony overlooking the main facade of the hotel and antique furniture. We invite you to immerse yourself into the history of our beloved Rani Saheb and the renowned family of Banswara.
