This Royal Chamber pays homage to Rani Saheb Komal Kumari of Bissau, a princess of the erstwhile princely state of Banswara. Rani Saheb was the daughter of Maharawal Sir Prithvi Singh ji of Banswara, a branch of the prosperous Kingdom of Mewar (Udaipur). Banswara is located in the region of Vagad, around 500 kms from Jaipur in the Southern Rajasthan. It is fondly known as the "City of a Hundred Islands" for the numerous small islands located on the Mahi River. The name is derived from the Bhil chief, Bansia who was defeated by Jagmal Singh ji the first ruler of Banswara.

He was instrumental in developing Bissau Palace into a hotel in the 1920s welcoming guests from all over the world. Renowned for its impeccable hospitality under Rawal Raghubir Singh ji, Bissau Palace earned the reputation of being a watering hole for Jaipur's elite including Sawai Man Singh II and Maharani Gayatri Devi who were frequent guests of the house and fondly called him 'George'. The Rawal was a gentleman of exquisite taste as can be gauged by the vast collection of literary works, jewellery and objects d'Art displayed throughout the property.
The rulers of Khairagarh claim descent from the ancient Nagvanshi clan which dominated much of Central India in the 15th and 16th centuries. Rani Saheb Sharda Devi was born into a staunch political family as her mother, Rani Padamvati Devi was a Health Minister in the Congress National Party for two terms maintaining a close relationship with Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India, her father Raja Briendra Bahadur Singh was Deputy Home Minister of the State and her brother Rajkumar Shivendra Bahadur Singh was elected to the Lok Sabha for three terms and was best friends with Rajiv Gandhi, the 6th Prime Minister of India. Apart from politics, the Khairagarh family have always been musically inclined as the town is home to the first music university in Asia, Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya.
